Traveling Is One Of My Biggest Wishes

I always like to tell myself and others that I have absolutely no regrets in my life. I've taken some pretty big chances and changed a lot of things. But there is one thing that is wish I was able to do, and that's travel.

I have a knack for adventure that involves traveling and experiencing new and exciting places, seeing new sights. But unfortunately I am never able to satisfy it because I have never really been anywhere. I have never been overseas, never to any tropical island, and I've never even been anywhere west of the east coast. I love it here and all, but I want to see California, Dubai, Italy, anywhere really. I've never even been to Canada. So for me traveling is something that's at the very top of my list of 'to-do' items.

I'm a junior now, so my window to study abroad is closed. I have to do stupid real-world things now like get an internship and look for a job. Really dumb career-move type of tasks. The first two years of school are when you're supposed to go. And I kinda almsost did. I was looking at studying for a semester in Australia actually, but it just didn't pan out.

But for me, I'm not sure I actually could have done that. (Besides the fact that I probably wasn't going to be able to afford it) I don't know if I could be away from everything for THAT long. An entire semester. I could do it yeah, but I don't think I'd want to be away from all my friends for such a long period. Especially without an option of coming back.

I envy the people that do study abroad though. They either just say screw it and go for the pure adventure of it, or they aren't bothered by losing time with their normal life and the people in it. I've seen so many people I know and don't know go overseas for a semester, a year even, and have the time of their lives, truly making everlasting memories. Shoutout to you people.

I want to just vacation 20 times a year. I want to take a week in Paris, a week in Barcelona, a week in Tokyo. I want to see it all and it kills me that I haven't had a chance too. I know so many that feel the same exact way too. This world is so diverse, beautiful, and full of adventure. There is so much to see and so much to do, with even more to learn. I believe everyone should take advantage of it and experience all that this planet has to offer.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
