On August 28, I will embark on a journey of a lifetime. Having the opportunity to study abroad is, hands down, one of the biggest blessings I've ever received. Get ready Prague, us American's are coming for you and we can't wait to explore your historic, yet majestic, city. There are so many things to look forward to, including, but not limited to, traveling around Europe and visiting cities we'd never in our lives imagined we'd see. However, the subject of packing brings up extreme anxiety. How are we expected to pack light when we are studying abroad for 6 whole months? Well, I'm here to help us all out.
Fall in Europe usually consists of scattered weather, which means us students need to bring a variety of clothing. Thankfully, CEA provides us with a lovely packing list. On the contrary, the problem of matching outfits and trying to go for a more sophisticated look becomes a difficult task.
For me, it's time for an entirely new wardrobe. Being a student at the University of Arizona, the majority of my wardrobe is comprised of summery clothing. Unfortunately, for my parents and my paychecks, I've slowly begun to take myself on shopping sprees in hopes of finding cute jackets, boots, and overall warmer clothing.
CEA recommends we travel with only one suitcase. This seems quite impossible for someone like me: an over packer. I've decided the best route is to check one extremely large suitcase and one smaller suitcase to use when I travel on the weekends. Obviously, both suitcases must have wheels; I don't need any back problems while I'm abroad.
According to CEA, studying abroad is the time to leave our sweatpants at home and dress like we are in the real world. At least we'll always look cute for the numerous photo opportunities we encounter. There certainly is no time for lounging around.
Remember to pack "semi-light," because if you pack too light, you'll be seen in the same outfit more than once. We all know that's a no-no.
