With Christmas and New Years on the way come tons of holiday parties, and whether you are partying with family or friends, here are some outfit ideas to stay on trend during the holiday season.
Velvet
Whenever I think of the holidays velvet always comes to mind. Whether it is a velvet top, dress, or skirt. Wearing it adds more texture to your look, and all of your friends will probably pet you because of it.

Faux Fur
Like velvet, faux fur can add a cool texture to your look. Faux fur can make any outfit look more luxurious. While they are not everyone's style, they will definitely keep you warm. If you are not up for splurging on a fur coat, you can always find cheaper selections at the thrift store.

The Ugly Christmas Sweater
Many of us have friends who host Ugly Christmas Sweater Parties. You can find these sweaters pretty much at any store, some of them are not even ugly either.
Incorporating metallic colors is a cool way to look festive for those New Years Eve parties. Metallic and sequined tops or dresses can be worn in a very minimalist way, it does not have to be anything too crazy.
This metallic crop top is from TopShop and is currently on sale for $20.00.Red
Obviously red screams Christmas. You can incorporate red in your wardrobe subtly by wearing a red lip, nail polish, or heels. Or you can go all out and wear a red dress or skirt, either way you will look fabulous.
Pleated Skirts
These are amazing for any occasion, they can make any outfit look more put together (and they are great for spinning around). Midi length skirts are usually the best with the cold climate.
If you are not up for wearing heels, loafers and oxfords are great shoes to wear with fancier outfits. They are cute, comfortable, and minimalist.
Turtlenecks
They are a great way to stay warm while looking stylish. These can be worn in a casual or formal way. It can be dressed casually paired with black pants or jeans. If you are going to a more formal party you can tuck it into a skirt.
Pajamas
If you are not going to a holiday party this is the perfect choice. Relax at home in your favorite festive pjs and watch some holiday movies.
