The other day when I was at work, I had an elderly lady come through my line. As I was checking her groceries out, she started talking about the election. At first, I thought "This is the 20th time today I have heard a customer talk about this..." but then she said something that really stuck with me. As she handed me a Bible and a devotional book, she smiled and told me, "You have a great life ahead of you. Don't let anything come in the way of your wishes." She smiled and walked away, as I stood there with tears in my eyes.
What this lady told me is so applicable today. After the election on Tuesday, America is at such a low point. Every time we seem to get on Facebook or listen to the news, all we seem to hear is how Americans are protesting and unhappy with the results. Personally, I am not happy, but I do realize that it is God's will. I prayed the night before election day that God would have His will in this election. God does not make mistakes. God knew that this would happen and always has our back.
So, no, you don't have to be happy. You can protest, you can speak your mind, you have that right as an American citizen. This is after all the "Land of the Free and Home of the Brave," but we must remember that life will go on. Instead of hating on the results, we should be praying for our concerns. If we just remember this, we can be much happier TOGETHER than separated.
So yes America, we have a great life ahead of us, we are at the start of a new presidency, and it is almost 2017. This is our time to love one another, regardless of their sexual preferences, beliefs, or thoughts about the president. Instead of writing mean comments to one another on Facebook, we should be supportive of each other's opinions and beliefs. Let's stand together as Americans, and love one another.
