The nominees for the 88th Academy Awards were announced on Jan. 14. There were many great movies released throughout the year but only eight were nominated for Best Picture. While many Oscar-nominated movies tend to be released towards the end of the year, some have been out for a while and are already available to watch from the comfort of your own home! Here are the eight Best Picture nominees and where you can watch them before the ceremony:
1. "The Big Short" - Theaters
"The Big Short" follows four men who anticipate and take advantage of the housing market collapse in the 2000s.
"The Big Short" is still in theaters.
2. "Bridge of Spies" - Amazon
Tom Hanks stars in this Cold War thriller as a lawyer from New York who defends a Soviet spy.
"Bridge of Spies" will be available on Amazon on Feb. 2.
3. "Brooklyn" - Theaters
In "Brooklyn," a young Irish woman's decision between the life she has always known in Ireland and the life she made for herself in Brooklyn is complicated when she falls in love.
"Brooklyn" is still in theaters.
4. "Mad Max: Fury Road" - Amazon
Max (Tom Hardy) and Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) rebel against their post-apocalyptic ruler in this action film.
"Mad Max: Fury Road" is available on HBO Go (subscription required) and Amazon.
5. "The Martian" - Amazon
A man, thought to be dead, is left on Mars and must survive with the supplies left behind while NASA struggles to find a way to bring him back to Earth in this Golden Globe-winning film.

6. "The Revenant" - Theaters
Set in the 1800s, a man must find his way back home alone after being abandoned by his fellow men after a near-fatal bear attack in the wilderness.
"The Revenant" is still in theaters.
7. "Room" - Theaters
A young girl is kidnapped at age 17 by a man and kept in his shed. Seven years later, she must introduce her 5-year-old son to life outside the room he knew to be his entire universe.
"Room" is still in theaters.
8. "Spotlight" - Amazon
"Spotlight" follows the Spotlight team at The Boston Globe as they work to expose a scandal in the Catholic church.
"Spotlight" is still in theaters and will be available on Amazon on Feb. 23.
Now head out to the movie theater and see some great movies while they're still in theaters, or if you'd rather not go out in the snow, rent the ones that are available on Amazon! There is still plenty of time to watch all eight films by the ceremony. The Academy Awards, hosted by Chris Rock, will premier at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 on ABC.
