I interviewed sister of the Epsilon Delta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Jordyn Jackson:

Why did you decided to join Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc?

"A major influence on my decision was my mother. She is also a member of the sorority. Although she was my largest influence, she was not my only influence. I grew up around strong, outspoken Delta women that are role models for me today. The Deltas I know personally are amazing as well as the famous Deltas that are known by the world such as Dorothy Height and Ruby Dee. These women changed the world in different ways but are intelligent, strong examples that I admired and that encouraged me to join Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated."

What is your most cherished memory since becoming a sister of Delta Sigma Theta?

"My most cherished memory since being initiated into this awesome sisterhood was being able to perform at NPHC’s “Meet the Greeks.” Of course it was a fun time to step and stroll for the audience that came out, but it is so cherished because that was one of the first times my linesister’s and I were able to tell people about our newfound sorority. Being able to share the history of our sorority and get others intrigued was such a special moment. Sharing our stepping and singing talents was the cherry on top to an amazing night."

What advice would you give young women looking to come out for Delta Sigma Theta?

"My advice to young women looking to come out for Delta Sigma Theta is to really get to know as much about the sorority as you can. Make sure this is a sisterhood you want to be a member of because it is truly a lifetime commitment."

What do YOU wish people would know more about Delta Sigma Theta?

"I wish people could grasp the concept that we are a public service based organization. Of course we step, sing, and perform various places, but we are all about serving our community. Some of us are from the Philadelphia community so it is a special place for us to really take care of; attending Temple University and being apart of this sorority is how we are able to express ourselves positively and helpfully with our sorority sisters. Community service is our foundation and it is my wish for more people to know that about Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated."

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
