Welcome to another OPOW, your playlist with awesome songs and discoveries. Some songs will be old. Some songs will be new. Overall, they will brighten up your weekend. Here are your five songs for this week!

Winner “Sentimental”

After a two-year hiatus from the music scene, Korean boy group Winner returns with their album Exit Movement. They released three music videos including “Sentimental.” The song is about feeling emotional at night without anyone to comfort to. While the lyrics may be sad, its upbeat tempo keeps their audience listening and dancing along. Maybe "Sentimental" will be there to comfort you on lonely nights.

Ice Cube “The N***a You Love To Hate”

From the rapper who started his career in hip-hop super group N.W.A, Ice Cube has one of his most recognized songs “The N***a You Love To Hate.” Released in 1990, Ice Cube raps to the song about his personal life after leaving N.W.A. “The N***a You Love To Hate” contains many profanity but its sampling from George Clinton to N.W.A amplifies this hip-hop classic. Its theme is solid from start to finish: you love to hate him, you hate to love him.

Leon Bridges “River”

From his 2015 debut album Coming Home, Leon Bridges serenades his listeners with his song "River." With fantastic use of 50s sounds, "River" is about faith. According to Bridge, he sings "River" as "symbolism for change and redemption." He uses his personal, spiritual experience to sing about having faith and open for change. "River" will lift you up and feel almost empowered.

Paramore “Hate To See Your Heart Break”

From their 2014 self-titled album, Paramore croons to a comforting song called "Hate To See Your Heart Break". Written by the band's front woman, Hayley Williams, and Taylor York, "Hate To See Your Heart Break" is about comforting a friend who is feeling sad or lonely. If you feel sad or lonely, Paramore will sing and hope your heart will not break again.

Janet Jackson “Control”

February 3rd celebrated singer Janet Jackson’s 30th anniversary for her album Control. The albums includes songs such as "The Principle of Pleasure" and her break-out hit "Control." "Control" is about being in charge of your own life. Jackson's break-out 1986 hit has made her into a superstar today. "Control" still plays as feeling independent and taking charge of your own life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
