Don't you ever grow up.

Dear Baby,

This is going to be short and sweet. I want your mother to show you this letter, and I want you to read this when you're old enough to understand how much you truly mean to me.

Don't you ever grow up.

Right at this moment, you're sitting next to me on the couch. You're so fond of my laptop. You don't like it when I give you millions of kisses, but you become my best buddy whenever I bring out my expensive computer. You love playing on the Paint app and exploring through my important, unsaved Word documents for college. You love to touch things and piss us off, too.

That's just who you are at the moment. You're 2 years old, and learning so much every single day. Your personality is outgoing but sensitive. You're already so smart, saying new words and knowing your numbers and ABCs. You're sweet, but you have an attitude and a sassy side. This is how you are, Baby.

I'm writing this, because I want you to know how you have impacted this family. You came into our lives when you were 3 months old. I remember that you were so tiny and shy. You wore cute hats. I remember making you laugh for the first time; and ever since then, I was in love. You were so cheerful and happy. Those days went by so fast. You were a pain sometimes. Well, you still are! ;) That's okay, though. All babies are a pain, even though I swear that you do things on purpose because you know it makes us mad. But you have brought a lot of happiness to this house and our family. You are a great addition. I don't know where we would be or how happy we would be if you and your mother hadn't walked into our lives.

Now, you've left my laptop and your big brother is chasing you around the living room, making you laugh and giggle until you fall down out of breath. Let me just tell you that I'm going to miss that baby laugh. Your time being a toddler is quickly passing by. Before I know it, you're going to be going to kindergarten. How is that so?

Technically, our relationship is that you are my stepbrother and I am your stepsister. But those are just labels and they are irrelevant to me. You are my baby brother, and you always will be. So I love you as though you are my blood-related biological brother.

I'm gonna miss you being this little. You're going to grow up into a strange generation, and all I can do is warn you about how weird it will be. Or maybe how tough it could be. But I want you to be super strong for me, okay? Sometimes it's going to be hard. Please keep your head up and keep on being strong like Dad and your mom.

I just wanted to tell you that you mean the world to me, and you make me happy. I can't wait to watch you grow up and see you go through all of your "firsts". I want to be there for you. As your big sister, I'm going to try and help you. I'm going to protect you. After all, that's my job!

I love you and I hope you smile when you read this. By the way, I expect a hug from you for this. ;)

Love, Baby

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
