To the Big Man Upstairs —

Hey, it's me. Thank you. I don't think I say that enough. Thank you for always loving me, no matter how stupid I acted or what dumb decisions I end up making. College is about finding yourself, right? Unfortunately, there are times when I forget in the midst of all of that I should be finding myself in you, not in what others think about me. You are my forever, not some random hot fraternity boy that will give me the time of day for three hours of the night.

So -

Thank you for testing me and thank you for guiding me when I was unsure of what to do.

Thank you for always forgiving me when I choose not to glorify you in my actions.

Thank you for comforting me in the times when I was unable to follow the path you created for me. Thank you for allowing me to wander astray; but, for showing me that you are always there to hold my hand to show me the way back.

Thank you for being a God that forgives. For letting me fall on my face and for always loving me every step of the way.

Thank you for blessing me with more than I remind myself to thank you for. Thank you for loving friends, family, a college education, three meals a day, and a roof over my head.

Thank you for the endless opportunities you have given me.

Thank you for teaching me to be fiercely independent. For reassuring my mantra of, “You’re a strong independent women who don’t need no man.” No man except for you.

Thank you for giving me faith and hope when all hope was lost and I was losing my faith in you.

Thank you for the daily reminders that you are watching over me and caring for my friends and family.

Thank you for challenging me to proclaim your name every day.

Thank you for forcing me to open up to people and to ask for help when I am struggling.

Thank you for the challenge of being independent, but of finally being able to trust people as well.

Thank you for placing trustworthy people in my life.

Thank you for everything you do in every second of my life.

This should be more than just a thank you. There are no words to describe the impact that you have on my life; you are there for me in my darkest hours and in my highest moments of glory. You are a shoulder to lean on, a constant in a very inconsistent, unreliable, and sinful world. 500 words are not nearly enough to thank you in, but its a start. Thank you for guiding me and for continuously showing me that there is a bigger plan in place than I can see for myself. I love you.
