An Open Letter To My Cat

I'm not a crazy cat lady yet, I swear.

Hey there,

So I know for a fact that cats always get overlooked by their other furry friends (or enemies in some of your cases), dogs. Don't get me wrong, dogs are adorable and I love them but I don't think that you get the credit you deserve. There are a lot of things you do that make you so much better than a dog that I need to thank you for. You are adorable and furry and some people may not like you but I do, and that's all that matters. There are just a couple of things I'd like you to know:

I'll never judge you for your weight.

I know how you feel about the judging stares you get from people who come into our house and see your, um, chubbiness. I know how annoying it is to have to constantly try to fit in with society's standards of beauty. It really isn't fair to you or for your love of treats.

You made me earn your love.

It may have taken a little while to gain your trust, but it was worth it in the end. Your hesitation to let us be friends prepared me and is so much more realistic to real life. No human is going to immediately become best friends with you, you have to work on them for a little bit. Thanks for keeping me realistic, even though you gave me a few battle scars in the process.

Hearing you purr makes me so happy.

When you're happy, I'm happy. I'm so glad I'm finally doing something right.

You're the best cuddle buddy.

You're soft, warm and you don't take up much room. Thank you for not snoring, talking in your sleep or kicking under the covers. It is greatly appreciated.

But you also know to give me space.

When I need someone, you're there but if I really just want to be by myself, you get that too because you are the same way. Because sometimes when I want to cuddle you'll kindly (or not too kindly) tell me to go away. So, I can do the same to you. Sometimes dogs will just constantly be looking for attention, which is nice, but I can't constantly be giving you attention. Thanks for being cool and getting that.

Thanks for being my personal alarm clock.

If it wasn't for you I would sleep until a decent hour on the weekends! Thanks for keeping me productive and making sure I am awake to have priorities...at 7 a.m. on a Sunday.

Thanks for always making me laugh.

Whether it is when you are playing with the toy that you will end up ignoring after 10 minutes or you just doing cat things, you always make my day a little funnier.

You are just so adorable.

Sometimes when you have a cat, people automatically assume you are a crazy cat lady. But is it my fault that my cat gets me more than the average human being? People say the same thing about their dogs so why can't I say it about my cat. Thanks for being a part of my life and blessing my life with your meows and adorable little face that I just want to squish. But not in a mean way, it's just because I love you so much. Can't wait to see you even though you probably won't give me a warm welcome because you already knew I was coming back.

Love,

Your annoying owner.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
