An Open Letter To My Mom

An open letter to my mom, the woman who made me who I am.

An Open Letter To My Mom
Personal

Mom, honestly what could I do without you? I have no earthly idea. All the things you do for me are above and beyond what you could do.

You work two jobs to provide for our family. Which I know makes you tired, and I know it makes you sore. I wish I could take that burden off of you, but I promise one day, you won't have to do it. I promise that once I'm done with college and have the career I want, that you won't have to work so hard for very little.

You spoil me even when I don't deserve it. I'm your only child so of course I'm a little spoiled, but you still buy me things even when I don't deserve anything. Every time you go shopping for yourself, I somehow end up with something.

I know I don't say I love you as much as I should and that will change. You're my bestfriend. You're always there for me, even on the days I don't deserve it. Because of all you have done, I've become the almost woman I am today. From how I dress, to how I drive, you've influenced me in everything I do.

I can't stay thank you enough for all you do, Mom. For the constant love and support, to even our fights to show I'm not always right. I love you so much and couldn't imagine having anyone else as a mom.

As it gets closer to graduation and then eventually leaving college, I know you're getting nervous. Please don't worry, you raised me and taught me enough I'll be okay. Plus, I'll be home almost every weekend. The house will be a little quiet, and the what seems like daily trips to Walmart will be lonely, but I'll be only a hour and a half away.

I love you, and I hope I make you proud.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
