Dear UNCW's RHA Executive Board,
There are eight of you. The eight of you wonderful human beings are the faces and voices for the over 4,000 Seahawks that call campus home. I've been able to talk to each of you (granted, some more than others) over the past two months, and I've got to say: you all are so, so great.
I transferred to UNCW this year and I didn't even know five people here. I knew a few things right off the bat, though: I wanted to be as involved as possible, I wanted to become an OL for next summer, and I wanted to join RHA. I just had no idea how to do it. It was because of Summer Sizzle and my talk with Paul (hi, Paul!) that I decided to run for Landing Area Council President. That was the best way to get involved with campus and get my fellow Seahawks as spirited as I was.
Since I've been elected President, I've hung out with most of you outside of RHA, whether we planned to grab lunch or hang out, or we just ran into each other at Hawk's Nest and you wanted my opinion on a flyer (hi, Kendall!). I love talking with you guys, no matter if it's RHA related, about programs, or just life.
Through RHA I've made friends with people: not just the Executive Board, but also from other areas and my own. The best thing about that is that we are all so passionate about UNCW and being involved in general. These are my kind of people, and it's all because of you, the exec board, that I met them.
The eight of you all bring different things to the table; I mean, that's why there are different positions in the first place, right? However, you all have the same goal, and that's to make living on-campus even better and to make the residents feel at home. Well, I've got to tell you something: in my 21 years, I have never felt so at home as I do at UNCW, and especially when I'm at the RHA meetings at 7 p.m. every Monday night. And it's all because of you guys.
I hope that over this year I can continue to get to know all eight of you better. I may not know how long I'll be at UNCW (I think I'm considered a junior, but I guess we'll find out whenever I actually end up graduating?), but one thing's for sure: I'm going to be a part of the Residence Hall Association for life. :)
So, Scott, Paul, Kendall, Joe, Cierra, Hope, Jacob, and Brantley: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Yours truly,
Carey
(aka the best Landing President EVER.)
