Ever since I was a little girl I have wondered about the man I would marry someday. I still wonder and I am still waiting. This is more than okay because I know that God is with him. That He is preparing both of us for that time of life. We aren’t there yet. Maybe it will be in a month, a year or a decade. Whenever it is, is not as important as it being the time God has planned for us.
People say hindsight is 20-20 and I agree with this. Looking back over the years I know I was not ready for my guy yet. If he had revealed himself in middle school or even high school we would still be waiting for marriage. God knows why we are doing the bulk of waiting alone. I am starting to realize the blessing of this.
Trust in His timing. In Song of Solomon three times it says, “Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires.” (2:7, 3:5, and 8:4)
For a while I was unsure what this meant then the Lord showed me the bigger picture. Sure we can all see easily it means don’t awaken love until it is time but greater than this – Do not awaken love until IT desires. It being my love? No, it is not the love you have but until LOVE desires. Get it?
Let me clarify, 1 John 4:8 “Whoever does not love does not know God, BECAUSE GOD IS LOVE.” 1 John 4:16 “And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. GOD IS LOVE. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
It is waiting until He desires. It is waiting for His timing. Waiting for His green light so to speak. With that I want to encourage you, friend to pray for your future spouse. While waiting for them God has a plan and purpose in singleness. Trust me, so much I have done I couldn’t have with my guy in my life already. What can you do for your love? Pray for them, because God is sitting with them right now as you read this. Amazing to think about, isn’t it? He knows what is going on in their life and yours. He knows. Trust in His timing and love your future spouse from a distance even if it is just a time distance. If you don’t know what to say I have written a prayer for my guy below. Read it and change it up for what God places on your heart to pray specifically about your person.
To my man, wherever you are and whoever you are I love you from our time distance. So here is my prayer for you, dearest, even if you don’t see this till we meet or are together please know I mean ever word even now.
Dear Lord,
Please be with my man. Help him be strong in who You have him to be, in what You have called him to and let him be strong in You. I also pray for his physical health that he will take care of himself. I pray that he chases fiercely after You, Lord. That the time he spends with You will strengthen him for all You are asking him to do. Whatever his calling is, Lord I pray You are in it all and leading him. Make the path before him straight and please protect him from any confusion. Help him wait for me and be encouraged that I do exist. I love him so much for all he is now and all you are calling him to be. God, You are our foundation! May his friends be part of his encouragement team that they will build him up and not down. That they will help him when he needs it and that You would use them. Help him know he is more than his past and that his sinful tendencies are not your path for him. Your path is straight. Help him love life wherever he is in it, no matter the season. You are right there and this continues to place a smile on my face. Although You haven’t brought us together yet, You are with both of us right now in this very moment. How amazing You are Father!! My hope for him is that he leans on You completely. That his heart is in tune with Yours. Please let him know I love him, I am waiting, and I will continue to wait till You say it is time.
Thank You for this man. Thank You for Your everlasting love for us.
