An Open Letter To My Mom

My mom is my rock, and I don't know what I'd do without her in my life. She's the best friend anyone could have. I may tease her sometimes, but it only out of the love in my heart for her. This letter goes out to her.

Dear mom,

From the time I was conceived, up until now, you've been my support system and provided me with life. You've always been there to look out for me, even when the times get tough. You've sat through my tears over friends and school, and you assured me everything was going to be okay.

You've been my own personal nurse, on call 24/7. When I don't feel well, you're always there with the knowledge and skills to make me feel better. You sit with me or set me up in your room, just to make sure I'm comfortable while I get well.

You always encourage me to do my best in whatever I pursue, and you make sure I know exactly what I'm getting into. I can call you with a problem, and you'll provide me with the best solution you can. You may not always be able to help me with my homework, but you sure do try.

You balance your busy life between work and home just to make sure our house looks good and we all feel good. You have something prepared for us when you know it's going to be a late night, and you always leave us a list of must do's and reminders when you are going somewhere else for a while.

Your heart and your mind are two of the greatest things you possess. You show your love for all of those around you, and when some of us have questions, you try your best to give us an answer.

Even now when I'm away, I know I can always call you with a problem or when I'm just feeling down. I can call you crying about not feeling well, and you always seem to calm me down. It seems as if there isn't an issue in this world you can't solve.

You have the ambition and drive that I hope to have someday in my own adult life. Your passion gives me the drive to be the best person I could ever be, and I partially own my future success to you, the other half is owed to dad.

I couldn't ask for a mom better than you. You make sure I'm always at the top of my game, and even when I am not, you try to find a way to pick me up and get me back on track. I don't know where I would be in this world if I didn't have you.

I don't know what I'm going to do the days when I have to start taking care of myself without your guidance all the time. It will be hard, but I know the knowledge you've given me throughout my life will help me push through.

I couldn't ask for anyone better to be my role model. I love you, mom.

P.S. I guess you actually are kinda cool, even if it took me this long to realize it.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
