Many people are now aware of what has happened in Belgium in the past few days. There was a terrorist attack on a subway station that was full of regular everyday commuters on their way to wherever they were going. Many of those innocent lives were stolen away from a world that they were not finished in just yet. I was scared when I found out because I knew I had a friend that was studying abroad in Brussels, and then I could breathe because she was not there anymore. When the attack on France happened her group was evacuated and sent back to the United States. Even though I could take a breath, many families of the victims could not. I am so sorry for the losses and for those who have been severely injured. Here is my letter to you.
Dear anyone who was a victim in Brussels,
First of all, I am extremely sorry that this event has happened. I was speechless when I heard about the events that had occurred. I have never understood why groups and organizations would feel the need to kill hundreds, thousands, millions of people for no reason other than to terrorize them. The people that were in that subway station were going to work, going to visit family members, coming home, or leaving to start a life somewhere else. Now some of those people will never make it to their destinations because of men that have been brainwashed into thinking that all other countries are evil, and have gone and bombed the subway station.
I felt horrible when these attacks happened in France, and I feel even worse now that they have happened in Brussels. It really makes you think about where these horrible people could attack next. I live in a place that is very close to the capital of the United States of America, and when I hear about attacks like these, it makes me wonder, are we next?
I am sorry again that all this has happened and I send my most sincere condolences to those families that have lost their loved ones in this unforgivable incident. To those who have survived but have been injured, I hope that your injuries will heal fast and you do not suffer from too much pain as you heal and move on from this event. I know that the way God works is purposeful and it may not always seem like it at the time, but there was a reason that He let this happen and there will be light at the end of it all. Stay strong, victims and families of those lost in this attack, and know that there are other people, towns, and even countries that are behind you to support you on the road to recovery.
