Caring For God's Gift of Creation

To The God Who Created Me...

The very first words in the bible are, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." From the very beginning God, You have been creating. You created the beautiful wide open seas. You created the glorious mountains. You created every inch of land and everything that is on it. You created the various species of animals on the land, in the air, and in the sea. You created the billions of other human beings who populate this planet, yet You still thought the world needed something else added to it. Me. You created me. You created me to be the daughter my parents always prayed for. You created me to be a sister and a friend. You created me to share You with the world.

It's so easy to get caught up in how big the world is and how many other people there are in it. It is so easy to not feel very special when you look at the whole big picture, but You created a spirit in me that is able to look at the entirety of Your creation and feel even more special. You had so many beautiful things, animals, and people, and You still chose to create me.

In addition to creating me, You also created my future spouse. You created us with the same heart for You. You created him, whoever he may be, to be my partner in ministry and in life. You created him just for me, and You created me just for him. You took the time to mold us to be exactly what we needed to be for each other and what we needed to be for You. I am so happy You chose to create me.

To The God Who Saved Me...

When You created me in my mother's womb, You knew that I was going to be born into a world full of sin. You knew I would fall and fail, and because You knew these things, You set up a plan to save me. Before I was even created You were prepared to save me from a world full of sin. You sent your one and only Son to be born on earth. Jesus walked this earth to be an example of how You want me to live life. He was tortured and killed to save me.

You sent Jesus to save the world, but even if I was the only one who needed him, even if I was the only person in need of saving, You would have done the same thing. That is the most beautiful part about salvation. I do not have the words to describe just how much what You did in sending Your son means to me. I don't think I will ever have the words to describe this feeling I have knowing Jesus died for me alone.

To The God Who Loved Me...

I know that You have to love me. If You didn't love me, You never would have sent Your Son for me. Your word says in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have life everlasting." The sacrifice You made to save me is the greatest example of love that has ever been shown.

No matter what I do, no matter how many mistakes I make, You still love me. Even when I sin You love me. Your word says tells me that even though You hate the sin, You love the sinner all the same. Your love is everlasting. You love me with a love so deep and so wide that my mind can't fully grasp the concept. I can try my entire life, but I will never be able to love someone as much as You love me, as much as You love everyone.

Your love is so everlasting and so powerful, that nothing can ever separate me from it. Romans 8:37-39 says, "No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord."

To The God Who Forgives Me...

God, I am not perfect. I am actually just about the furthest thing from it, but You knew this already. I make mistakes daily. I sin, I falter, and I fail. Even though I am saved, I still sin. I face temptation, and I don't always beat it. If I had a penny for every time I made a mistake, I would be able to pay for college 10 times over, potentially more. Every single day of my life I am in need of Your grace and Your forgiveness, and every single day of my life, You give me just that. I can't even tell You just how many times I have fallen short of You, but in Romans 3:23 you remind me, "For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard."

You knew before I was born I would make mistakes. You knew that I, like everyone else, would fall short of Your standard and Your glory. You were always prepared to forgive me. I can sin an infinite amount of times, and still You will forgive me. I do my best not to sin because I love You, but no matter what You forgive me. Forgiveness is such a hard concept for me. When someone hurts me, I don't always want to forgive them. I want to hold on to what they did, hold it against them, but then I am reminded of the times I hurt You. You never hold on to it nor do You hold it against me.

To The God Who Heals Me And Keeps Me Safe...

Being the particularly clumsy person that I am, I injure myself more than I'd like to. I also get sick, have headaches, and a whole slew of other physical problems that come with the human body. You created doctors and scientists who help with these physical problems, but sometimes medicine isn't enough. Even more unfortunate, sometimes the medicines and doctors cost too much money. When I'm in need physically, I either find healing with the doctors You created, or I come straight to You. No matter what, You always provide the healing that I am in need of.

You heal me and make me whole again not only physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually as well. You watch out for me all the time, and I honestly do not know where I would be without You. My life could have been a whole lot worse, and I could have even died if not for Your healing touch in my life. You also heal my loved ones, which in turn heals me emotionally. I am so thankful that I am alive and well today.

To The God Who Strengthens Me...

I am a relatively tough person, and I can handle quite a bit, but there are things that without You, I would never be able to get through. There are battles and struggles that I face that I alone do not have the strength to handle. In times when I feel weak, I look to You, for in You I am made strong. In areas where I am weak, You are strong, and without You I would fail. Philippians 4:13 says, "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength."

When You created me, You created me to be strong. You created me to be a Proverbs 31 woman. "She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future," Proverbs 31:25. I aspire to be that type of woman. I aspire to be clothed in the strength You have for me. I aspire to grow closer to You, because the closer I get to You, the stronger You make me. I will never forget that You are the source of my strength.

To The God Who Restores Me...

Some things in life can't simply be healed. Some things aren't broken, but rather drained and destroyed. In times when healing isn't enough, You provide restoration. When my soul is weary, You restore it. When my strength has been depleted, You restore it. When my joy has been wiped away, You restore it. When my hope is all but gone, You restore it. When my body is too weary to go own and my energy ceases to exist, You restore it. When the love I have for others is all used up, and I don't have any more to give, You restore it. When I am troubled and I no longer have peace, You restore it. When Your spirit inside of me is running low, You restore it. No matter what it is, You restore it. You always restore me, so I may go on living and loving for You.

To The God Who Set Me Apart...

You did not only create me; You also set me apart and sanctified me. Before I was ever born You had plans for me. "The Lord gave me this message: 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you and set you apart.'" Jeremiah 1:5 Your word tells me that I was created for such a time as this. There are plans and works that You have for me, that You've had since before I was created. Jeremiah 29:11, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the Lord. 'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'"

You didn't just create me to take up space on this earth; You created me with a purpose and a plan. You created me with the intention of me being set apart for Your glory and Your purpose. Each day I learn more and more about those plans and my purpose. Each day I learn more and more about just why it is you set me apart, and each day I am so blown away and blessed by what I learn and discover.

To The God Who Is With Me...Always

The most special aspect of my relationship with You is that You are always with me. It doesn't matter where I go, and it doesn't matter what I do. You never leave me. I never have to worry about being alone, because I know that I am always going to have You. You promised in Your word that You would never leave me nor forsake me. There is literally no one else in my life that I can say that about. No one else is always there for me and with me no matter what the circumstances.

Even if I turn my back on You or sin against You, You're always right there. All I have to do is ask for forgiveness, turn around, and You are waiting with Your arms wide open. Sometimes I get caught up in my circumstances, and in those moments it is so easy to feel alone, but You remind me that I'm not. Your presence comforts me in those times. Your presence in my life always comforts me. No matter what I am facing or how insignificant it may seem, You're always there to take care of it. There is no problem too minute or too grand for You.

To The God Who Did/Does It All...

Looking back on everything I have written to You, it is so insane that one God is capable of all this and even more. You, the powerful God who has the whole world

to look after did all of this for me, and You continue to do these things all of the time. You constantly create new things about me, save me all over again if I need, forgive me, heal me, strengthen me, restore me, set me apart, and above all else You love me, and You are always with me.

You remain constant throughout my life. You are the same yesterday, You are the same today, and You will be the same tomorrow. In a world full of things I cannot count on, I can always count on You. I can always count on You to do the things above and many more things. There are things You have done for me or are currently doing for me that I know nothing about, but one day when they come to pass, I will know that You, the God who loves me, took care of me once again.

Thank you so very much, God. There aren't enough words nor enough ways I can show my gratitude. I could write a thousand times how thankful I am, and it still wouldn't be enough. I will continuously thank you for the rest of my days for all that You have done, all that You are doing, and all that You will do.

Sincerely,

Your Daughter.

P.S. I love you more than I can ever say.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
