First of all thank you.
To all the student leaders out there, you really are appreciated! Whether you're a resident assistant, tutor, leader on your sports team, in student congress, or a peer mentor you're hard work is appreciated.
Often you go days, weeks, and months without receiving the recognition and you deserve. Sometimes faculty and staff will praise you for your commitment to the school, but that's not quite the same as getting praise from your peers, so thank you!
You work tirelessly day in and day out to set an example of what a professional student looks like. You study all day so that you can go to student activities at night. You set aside your differences and help out all who need it. And you are a shinning example of someone who has some sort of idea what they are doing with their life!
To the resident assistants there is a huge thank you that hardly gets spoken. You create activities for us to do and work them until we all filter out for the night. You create super cute door decs to make us feel like we're at home because we don't live in dorms we live in residents halls. You make funny boards that capture our attention. And you post about activities going on around campus. Without you, who knows if most of us would still be here.
To the teammate who steps up and shows us what a good leader is thanks. We may not always appreciate the attitude you give. But when we take a step back, we realize all you are trying to do is make us a better team. You demonstrate how focus in practice pays off and constructive criticism is just that, constructive. Without you, our team would be nothing.
To the club/organization leaders, keep doing you. Your "go-getter" attitude is something to be admired from. If you were not peppy and fun to be around the club would be incredibly boring. Without your organizational skills our club would cease to exist. So thank you for literally being the out going person you are!
To student congress, thanks for putting up with the outrageous petitions you have to deal with. Most of us don't pay attention and we realize that you do not have control over the issues that require the petition. But thanks for taking those petitions kindly and giving the students grievances to the correct people. We know that's your job, but the fact that you do it while keeping a cool head is encouraging. Thanks for being there.
And finally, thanks to those students who don't actually take student leader positions but are active on campus. You are doing more than you think. By being that familiar face at activities and helping out random clubs you are impacting the campus community in more ways than you know. Those students that organize the events are so grateful that you take the time to spread the word about the event and actually get people to attend. You are a friendly face and a welcomed friend where ever you go.
To all those students who are trying to impact others lives, you're doing a great job. The skills you are gaining now in leadership will help you prosper when you take your last step on campus as a student and become an alumni. We're all here supporting you, even when you don't think so.
