There is always someone, every semester, who just happens to have your exact same schedule, and you see them everywhere you go. Even when you catch the bus late or you change the way you walk to class, they are still there.
I constantly find myself day dreaming about how amazing it would be to be friends with my Schedule Shadow; there is some serious BFF potential there! You are in all the same classes and, obviously, you have similar eating and coffee drinking patterns. You would never be alone again!
Since it would be unbelievably creepy for me to approach you about what could be a beautiful relationship, in person, I have decided to write you a letter that I hope you will one day read and realize that we are meant to be friends.
To My Shadow,
Hey, I know we have only exchanged a few words, like that time you asked if I had an extra Scantron, or the time I asked to borrow your pen, but I think I feel a connection forming and I know you feel it, too. I don’t know if you have noticed, but I see you almost everywhere I go. We sometimes make eye contact on the bus in the morning, in line to get into the stadium, or sometimes when you stop for your afternoon coffee.
First off, I just want to clear the air. I know it is so awkward seeing me everywhere, and sometimes I even try to walk faster or slower than usual, hoping I won’t see you but, alas, you are always around. Sometimes I get nervous that you might think I am stalking you. I promise you that I am not. I also want to let you know that I don’t think you are stalking me either, just in case you have as much anxiety about such things as I do.
With that said, I think it is fate that has brought us together. Scheduling magic has given us a golden opportunity that we have not been taking advantage of. Think about the possibilities! If we were friends, we would never again be alone in a class, we would always have someone to study with, and we would never have to sit next to strangers on the bus! If we were really good friends, I might even take notes for you so you could sleep in every so often. What can I say? I’m a giver.
So, just think about it and let me know, okay? Feel free to take your time mulling it over. I’ll most likely be right next to you whenever you decide!
