Dear Self,
This past semester was rough, to say the least, but at least you can grow and learn from it. This upcoming semester, it is time to crack down and work harder than last, but without overstressing yourself -- if that is even possible. Buy some adult coloring books; they work wonders.
Make sure you are putting your homework and studies first. Sometimes other things seem like they are of more importance, but just remember you're at school for a reason, not to live like a reality-TV drama. Sometimes your homework is a saving grace for classes and you need to put the effort into it, not decide to settle for a B. Work for that A because it may take an extra 10-30 minutes, but that might be worth it. Study for your exams ahead of time -- you know when they will be thanks to syllabus week, so use all that empty time to plan them out. Study a few days ahead, not just the day before; it will honestly work wonders.
Crack out your planner and use it more frequently -- you bought it for a reason. You got a little side-tracked this past semester with events and homework, but plan accordingly and your life will be OK. Remember: It is OK to say no to some things; you do not have to overload yourself. This will allow you to focus on the important things, like your studies, and even help you de-stress. You don't have to feel obligated to do everything, just be active on campus. Sometimes it is better to do a few things than break your own back trying
Last semester you felt very overwhelmed, so remember to take some "me" time, whether that be watching "New Girl" on Netflix or going to the gym. You deserve it and it makes you less cranky, and honestly, it is hard being around people all the time.
Take a catnap. Sometimes you have to stay up late to work on a paper or study for your exam the next day, and a nap is always needed. Sleep is a precious thing in college and you do not get enough of it, so nap off some stress, as it's an important thing when it comes to functioning.
Also, make sure you're eating. Last semester your schedule did not allow you to eat dinner, and you settled for mashed potatoes and Pasta-Roni bowls every night. You need more sustenance than carbs alone. Go to Panera with a friend and have a homework date, or even go to the grocery store and make yourself a meal. If you are cooking for yourself, you go, Glen CoCo, because this is practice for the real world.
Focus on your studies, take some time for yourself, and enjoy the year because it will be over before you know it. Good luck this upcoming semester; you can do this!
Just believe in yourself!
Love,
Me
