Dear Mom,
Thank you. This is the first thing I think of any time I look at you. And it’s something I don’t say enough to you.
Thank for putting your children before anything else. Since the day I was born, everything you have ever wanted has taken a backseat so I could take a passenger seat in this crazy ride called life. You’re the one who always goes shopping for your daughters instead of for yourself. You’re the one who gave up a full-time job so you can be with your daughters and be there for them 24/7. You’re the most selfless person on earth, and I don’t think I can ever thank you enough for that.
Thank you for supporting me in anything I do. You’re my biggest fan. You’re the one who froze every Friday night just to watch me toss a flag or sabre around for fifteen minutes. You’re the one who convinced me I was good enough to get to DECA States when I doubted myself. The support you continuously give me is what fuels me to make all my dreams come true. All of my successes would be nothing without you.
Thank you for laughing with me. My favorite part of the day is when we sit down to talk about our day and end up laughing over something until we can’t breathe. The times we share our laughter are the times when whatever worries or stress become a distant memory. Your sense of humor is one of a kind and thank you for sharing with me.
Thank you for always being there for me. You’ve made my highest highs amazing and my lowest lows less painful. You’ve been the shoulder I cry on when I need to let it all out. You’re the one who helps me pick myself up whenever I get knocked down. You’re the one who magically heals my heart when it gets broken. You’re the only one who can help me clear my head when it gets too crowded. You’re the one who I go to first whenever something fantastic happens. You’re the one who shares all my joy with me.
Thank you for being my role model. You’re everything I strive to be in this life. You’re smart, kind, caring, beautiful, loving, perfect, an amazing chef, fashionable, and the best wife and mother in the universe. If I end up being half the woman you are, I’ll be more than satisfied.
You’re my best friend. I’d be lost in this world if it weren’t for you. I have no idea what I would do without you. There are not enough words in any of the six languages I speak to express how much I love you, but I hope this essay comes close.
I love you,
Jana
