Dad,

Fathers Day is right around the corner. This year I am using this platform to give you a gift that is truly from the heart. You have done so much for me within these 18 years and I am so thankful to have you as my dad. Not only have you done a lot for me, you've done a lot for mom and Brandy as well and it's time you deserve some recognition for what you've done.

Thank you for being the handyman. It can't be easy living in a house with all women, but you just seem to handle it just fine. Whenever something is broken or someone can't figure out how something works you just step right in and help us figure it out. I know that it can sometimes be a bit annoying but you just seem to know it all when it comes to new things.

Thank you for helping me with my math homework. Math has and always will be the subject I hate the most. You always did your best to understand what they were teaching me (as the methods of math changes all the time) and you then did your best to help me. Math caused me a lot of stress and tears but you helped me through a lot of that.

Thank you for making me laugh. You are by far one of the funniest people I know and you always know how to make me laugh on a bad day. No matter if the jokes are "making fun of me" or typical dad jokes I always crack a smile.

Thank you for helping me with car troubles. Remember that one time my car died in the middle of an intersection? I remember it all too well. You came to my rescue and helped me get my car out of the intersection, took me to work, and picked me up at work. That was quite the scary moment for me but you helped me handle it and I appreciate that more than you'll ever know.

Speaking of cars, thank you for teaching me how to drive. After I got my temps we went to the empty high school parking lot and drove around so I go the hang of it. Teaching someone to drive is a task but teaching me to drive is a whole other sport. I get nervous about things I don't necessarily want to be doing and you understood that. When I got way too nervous or just didn't want to drive anymore you got in the driver's seat and took us home.

Most importantly thank you for being an excellent role model and an excellent model on what it means to be a man and a dad. I look up to you a lot and I really appreciate everything you do for me and have done for me. I've seen you go through hard times and good times. I know that you'll always be there for me no matter what happens. You have the best stories and I will never get tired of listening to them. Thank you not only for being my dad but for also being one the best role models I could have. I love you so much dad and I hope this fathers day is the best one yet.

Love,

McKenna

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
