Thank you. Thank you for being my honorary bridesmaids, my confidants, my partners in crime. Thank you for being the sisters I never had, and for always being my best friends.
Having cousins that are close to my age is like having permanent best friends. I don’t know who I’d be without you. From our games of telephone around the dinner table to the music productions we put on during the holidays, we never stop having a blast. I know that I can trust you guys with everything. I can tell you anything because you’re family, but you feel like my best friends. Since I’m the oldest, I’ve gotten to watch all of you grow into amazing people. You each have your own personality, jam-packed with awesomeness.
I can’t remember a time I wasn’t thankful for you.
Having a close family is a blessing, but having close cousins is something I value because it’s like having a best friend who will never leave you. A cousin is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost. Now that I’m older, I’m learning how to be an adult and I see you guys growing into adults yourselves.
I’m here for you. I am here to help you through every breakup, car wreck, subtweet, and shady Snapchat story. I promise to be a big sister to you when you need me. I promise to always be a phone call away, even if it’s three a.m.
What I love about you, cousin is that you make me the best version of myself. I could never lie to you or betray you. I could never hurt you because you are my family. My heart. You guys are the little sisters I never had… but I guess I have always had.
I couldn’t do life without you.
I know that life is going to drag us in a million different directions. We’ll be apart for long periods of time, like we are now, but we will always be together. We’re bonded that way. “Forever friends” is what we are.
We love each other like best friends and annoy each other like sisters. What more could I ask for?
The best part about family gatherings is getting to catch up with you. Sitting at the “kids' table” is a tradition I will never part with, because I get to talk to the people that are the most like me, but also the most different.
Cousins connect in a way that is more unique than any family member. We are all pieces of the same puzzle that somehow all seem to fit together.
I want you to know, my cousin, that I will always have your best interest at heart. I will always be your loyal confidant, and partner in crime.
I may be a little bit older, but I’m none the wiser. We grew up together, and we will continue to grow until we’re old ladies in nursing homes playing shuffleboard.
You are my girl, my homie, my best friend.
I am so proud to be your cousin. I love you.
