An Open Letter To My Boyfriend

Hey,

You mean the world to me. You aren't exactly family, not really related, but for some reason, I feel as close to you as I do my family at times. While you will never replace my family as the people who mean the most to me, at this point you pretty much are family anyways. I know sometimes you make me upset, and I try to deal with it as best as I can, but my goodness you certainly know which buttons to push don't you? I know sometimes I make you upset or need more attention than you really want to give me, and I am so thankful that you have stuck through with me to the point we are at now.

Our relationship hasn't always been rainbows and butterflies, sometimes it's been more like thunderstorms and darkness, but even then, knowing that you truly have my back, even when I do not necessarily deserve someone like you supporting me. I know sometimes we fight, and when we argue it seems like everything is going wrong, but still, I love having you around, even when you are the one who made me mad. There is little better than laughing with you because your solution to someone being upset is to make them laugh, and for that, I gotta say, thank you. Even when I try not to laugh, which is more often than not, you are the person I know who will make me laugh eventually, usually making me laugh about how I'm trying so hard not to.

I may not always be the best at reminding you how amazing you are, and how I feel about you, but I want you to know, that even when you make me cry, I never stop caring about you, or wanting you in my life. Without a doubt, you are the person I turn to for comfort about things that are trivial and stupid, and I need a hug to fix, and I am so grateful that you are nearby to tell me I am being ridiculous and make it all better for me. I hope that you will always come to me with your problems, and let me take care of you because you take care of family first, and you, sir, are family.

You are so smart and don't argue with me on that one, you know you always let me win. You are beautiful and handsome, and so good looking. You know what you want, and you don't apologize for being confident and strong. You stay true to yourself, even when I am questioning your actions, decisions, or some of the people you are close with. You don't let anyone push you around, and you don't let me let others push me around. You are supportive, without a doubt always watching my back. You know what it takes to make me laugh, and you never fail to work hard to "turn my frown upside down." You are sweet and sensitive, but strong and brave. You make sure I am happy with everything and comfortable. You may hate sharing a blanket, but in the end, you always do because you know I am always cold.

I care deeply about you, and I want to remind you that even when things aren't smooth-sailing, you can always come to me for help. No matter how annoying you are being, I will put aside whatever little argument we are having to make you feel better and to make sure you know just how much you mean to me. You may not be the perfect guy (listen you aren't Peter the pilot, ok), but I still without a doubt think that you are perfect in every way. Even the little things you do that I absolutely hate are worth enduring for you. I want you to know how much I care about you and how you have changed my life in the time that I have known you. It may not seem like very long, but it's been long enough for you to have a lasting impact on the way I live my life.

Love forever,

your girlfriend

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
