To Kaitlin Bennett, the Kent State Gun Girl, If You Want People To Actually Listen, You Need To Rethink Your Attitude

You seriously need to rethink both your attitude and your platform if you expect anyone to take your political stance seriously.

Dear Kaitlin Bennett.

I get it, I really do. You are super passionate about your political beliefs. A lot of us are. But, for the sake of all of us, get a grip. You have made a fool of yourself time and time again, and seem to be blind to your own ignorance, and even more blind to your own stupidity.

You are ill-informed about many of your own views and ideas, to the point that even once-supporters of you have managed to turn away from you at this point.

You have pulled some absolutely absurd stunts through your short-lived fame. From nearly Cheddar Bob-ing it with the photo of guns in your waistband, to your entire Undercover Boss-esque stunt on Kent State campus (where you fooled absolutely no one and were actively made fun of for your absurdity even in the video itself).

From your original controversy posing with your gun at graduation, breaking the law as you did so on a weapons-free campus, to your loud, combative, threatening "counter-protest" video wherein you threatened to shoot several people for no reason, you fat-shamed women protesting, and you made fun of just about everyone you came into contact with.

From your general lack of responsibility with the guns you so proudly tote around to your complete refusal to open a dialogue with anyone who even slightly differs in views from you, you have made yourself the laughing stock of the internet.

Not only are you absurdly adamant about a complete and utter lack of gun control, but you also project very thinly veiled racism when police brutality is brought up. You argue that everyone has a right to have a weapon, but you refuse to ever discuss or defend those murdered in cold blood who are unarmed.

You seem to have no regard for the victims of mass shootings, and always seem to think that more guns or more "good people" with those guns are the solutions, rather than gun control.

You make fun of any person protesting peacefully, but I doubt you or anyone else would prefer if people started arming themselves during their protests.

When you reach a certain level of absurdity, Kaitlin, even people who once supported you will pull away. This has become true many a time, with members of the NRA and your own fellow Republicans denouncing you because you just manage to go too far. Your "adamant support" for the Second Amendment comes across much more like you just enjoy playing with guns.

Not to mention the hate speech, as I mentioned before you have managed to just barely conceal your own racial prejudice, but beyond that you and your disdain for "False rape accusations" (Which are so much a non-issue as to be irrelevant), along with your shaming of woman who have actually been raped, proves that you also are very deeply misogynistic.

You have also been aggressively transphobic in the past, and again, as mentioned before, you have been known to fat-shame and slut-shame people publicly.

You are absurdly hateful in your message and platform and while people may have chosen to ignore all of the hatred within President Trump's messages and speeches, you don't have nearly as much skill in the public light nor as many blind followers as he does, so people won't turn that same blind eye to you.

If you want to be taken seriously, you need to re-evaluate so much of what you do. Instead of doing absurd things "to own the libs", you need to stop trying to make any sort of grand publicity for yourself. Instead of being repeatedly dismissive of anyone with a differing opinion, you need to be willing to listen to them and hear what they have to say.

Instead of screaming behind your keyboard or just yelling at people on the street, learn a new and more respectful and more put-together way of expressing your opinion, if you want people to listen.

And most importantly, educate yourself more. Stop being hateful and ignorant about your own hate and your own political views, start opening your heart and mind to become a more knowledgeable and kinder political activist.

I will not hate on you for your political views, I do not want to make this article political. That being said, I have no tolerance for anyone so blindly hateful and angry and love to laugh at anyone as absurd as you are, and for those reasons, I am writing this piece.

So do us all a favor, Kaitlin Bennett, and either take this advice or just learn to shut up until you do. And please never run for office, at least not until you grow up.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
