An Open Letter To My Guy Best Friend

I think every girl should have a guy best friend. No love interest, truly just friends.Someone who understands them and is there for them no matter what.

Dear best friend,

I'm not sure how we even got to be such good friends. It's like one day we decided we were going to be there for each other and it just stuck. Before you came around, I really don't know how I managed college without you.

Thank you for late night talks. We can literally talk about everything and anything in the world and that's what I love the most. If anyone knew how weird our conversations got, I don't think we would have any other friends. We never run out of anything to say either, we could talk all night and not go to sleep and be perfectly OK with it.

Thank you for supporting me. I know when I have a problem or a decision to make, you're always there to give your input and help me out with anything I need.

Thank you for taking me to your frat functions. Everyone knows when we're together it's gonna be a hilarious shit show.

Thank you for pretending to be my boyfriend when I need to get away from someone. It's so funny when people actually think we have something going on. Nah, you're just helping me get away from that boy that you hate and don't want me talking to, LOL.

Thank you for helping me when I get sick. When I'm in bed dying, you give me water and medicine and rub my back until I fall asleep.

Thank you for not judging me when I eat more than you.

Thank you for yelling at me when I deserve it. I'm such a stubborn person and you're the only one who keeps me in check.

Thank you for answering my random texts when I'm bored and have no one else to talk to.

Thank you for ordering Jimmy Johns to my house after a night out. I mean you basically live there, too.

Thank you for dropping everything and coming to talk to me when I'm stressed out, no matter what time it is.

Thank you for watching "Grey's Anatomy" with me, and not laughing at me for being an ugly crier.

Thank you for comforting me when a guy broke my heart. Even when I thought I was going to die, you assured me it was going to be OK. That horrible night turned out to be one of the funnest nights laughing and quoting SpongeBob with you.

I don't give you enough credit for everything you do for me. A relationship like what we have is rare, and I wish for everyone to experience a friendship like this.

Sincerely,

Your GBFF (girl best friend forever)

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
