Dear fellow graduates,
Congratulations! We have made it through one of the toughest seasons in our life so far.
May has been a bittersweet month for us. We went to our last high school class, walked the halls of our high school as a student for the final time, and we realized that we will not see familiar faces surrounding us in the fall.
Over the past four years, we have poured a lot into our school. We have invested our time and our spirit into countless games and school activities. We have put in hard work and dedication to bring home the victory for whatever sport we played. We stayed up late at night to rehearse our lines for the school play to ensure that it went perfectly.
Now, it is time to turn to a new chapter of our life. It is time for us to attend college. Most of us are moving away from home. We have lived in the same town for countless years, and in a few short months, we are packing it all away to begin our own new adventure. No matter where you go next, give it your all. We are no longer high school students who had to choose a pathway just because it was required by the school. We will be college freshman, choosing classes that will determine the rest of our life.
Some of us are not ready for this next chapter. We are scared, anxious or even hesitant. I want to remind you not to be. It is tempting to become scared of leaving home for the first time, but you are about to establish a new home and make new friends. It is tempting to become anxious about being on your own, but you still have that support system. Just because you are going to college does not mean that you are now on your own. It is tempting to become hesitant of doing what you want, but remember to make yourself happy. Your parents might want you attending a certain college or pursuing a specific career, but I want to remind you that this is your life. You are preparing for your future. Pursue a profession that will make you happy, even if it does not have the highest paying salary.
Good luck to the Class of 2016. Our future is bright and we have so much ahead. I know that we will all do great things.
Sincerely,
Your fellow graduate
