An Open Letter To The Man Who Hates America

"Let them fucking die," he said.

An Open Letter To The Man Who Hates America
Fox News

Dear sir,

When I came across your article last week through a link on The Blaze, I was incredibly disturbed. You wrote a piece entitled "Let Them Fucking Die" and published it for the world to see. The topic of focus was the recent shooting of Congressman Steve Scalise and the black queer woman on the police force who saved his life by gunning down the shooter. You wrote about Scalise's opinions and your clear contradiction to what he believes, but oh, Mr. Williams, you didn't stop there. You went above and beyond the bounds of moral humanity, targeting a specific group of people in this country and concluding your piece with profound words that I just can't seem to forget.

Your target of choice? White, cisgender, heterosexual people whom you quickly dubbed bigots worthy of nothing more than death and revenge. After many vicious paragraphs filled with anything other than compassion and love, you finished with these words:

"Saving the life of those that would kill you is the opposite of virtuous.

Let. Them. Fucking. Die.

And smile a bit when you do.

For you have done the universe a great service.

Ashes to ashes.

Dust to bigots."

Is this really what you want? Do you desire our nation to be so full of hatred that we stand by and do nothing as our fellow citizens get killed? Yes, I know they may not be our friends; in fact, they might just be our greatest enemies when it comes to our stance on politics, moral issues, and even the simple basis of human life itself. But since when did we become okay with killing those who disagree with us? In what universe is it EVER okay to smile as a man lies on the ground with bullet wounds in his body?

Mr. Williams, I beg of you to take a long and hard look at the current state of America. It's undoubtedly clear that we are a nation full of flaws that can only cause hate and destruction, but why wish it to be worse than it already is?

The police officer who helped to save Scalise's life doesn't deserve anything extra because she is a queer black woman who protected a supposed white heterosexual Conservative. She did it because it was her job and her duty as a respected citizen of the United States. If she had stood back and let the shooter keep firing rounds, the majority of this nation would have seen her as a disgrace to the human race.

It doesn't matter WHO the person is or WHAT the situation is or WHERE that person's beliefs fall on the ideological scale. There is no solid evidence that ever makes it okay to stand back and watch a fellow American die.

You are setting a standard for you students, colleagues, and the countless other people who have now read your piece and had to comprehend every word you wrote. Think about it, sir: is this really a standard you want to set? If so, another civil war is inevitable, and that will only end our country that so desperately needs to remain strong. But then again, perhaps an end is what you want.

Sincerely,

A white, cisgender, heterosexual female who will NEVER sit down with a smile and let anyone fucking die.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
