"We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away."
Hebrews 2:1
Dear Struggling Christian,
I have recently started studying the book of Hebrews. An entire book basically devoted and written to the struggling Christian. Although I would not consider my self-struggling in my faith, I know I am, by no means, the perfect Christian. I would be lying if I told you I never doubted the presence of God in my life. I would be lying if I told you I never questioned the existence of heaven. I wanted to pay very close attention when I decided to study this specific chapter. I want to know how to help you, and help myself never stray away from faith. The verse you read above is the first verse in chapter two of the book of Hebrews.
This specific verse really caught my attention. What I take away from this verse is that I need to continuously remind myself of God's word. Whenever you feel yourself drifting away from God, you need to dive into the word of God. You need to remind yourself what He says, what He is about, what He does for us, and how well He loves us. If you continue to read Hebrews chapter 2, verses 3 and 4 say "how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will." This alone, brings to you a reminder of how great our God is.
The very first thing I notice when I start to lose sight of my faith, is that I am not spending enough time in prayer and in His word. By taking just a few minutes to pick up my bible and read, I already feel closer. Maybe for you, reading the bible just is not your thing. There are so many ways to experience God; for example, podcasts where you can just listen, and youtube devotionals you can watch, learn, and follow along. Today I encourage you to learn. I encourage you to seek the word of God and see if you can regain your faith.
If you have time to read the book of Hebrews, even just chapter 2, you will find so much encouragement. Better encouragement than I can give you! I hope today I gave you an idea of where to start to get back on track!
Love,
The College Christian
