The squad, the crew, the girls, the family, best friends... The list goes on and on. We have been together through thick and thin, every up and down, hard time, good time. We have been through everything together in just the short amount of time we have been at college. Some common synonyms of squad according to Google are team, crew, unit, gang, and body. These all define the crew for what we are together, one team, crew, unit, gang, body who have each others back through anything and everything.
Sure, there have been many open letters to squads or best friends, but you and your squad have something unique or different that nobody else can understand. These girls or guys are the ones you can go to about anything, cry with, laugh with, make fun of, set goals with, eat with... Most importantly eat with. You make memories that will last a lifetime and ones that your other friends, family, or loved ones will never fully understand.
No matter what I know I can go to the squad about anything and there will be no judgement. The squad will do whatever it takes to make sure I am supported and loved, whether that means coming to support me in an event I am running or just to come to my house at 1 a.m. because I need them. You never truly understand the meaning of a true friend until you have been through the pits of hell with them and they come out on the other side standing just as tall beside you.
The squad will always say we are going on a diet or we are going to change our eating habits, but then make a late night run to Culver's to eat a mini mix with Reece's. Given we do what we can to eat really well throughout the day, but I always get a sweet tooth and night and they understand. There is no meal eaten alone. It is like the buddy system is put in place, ones who eat together, cook, and bake together, stay together.
There isn't a place we go where there isn't at least one picture or Snapchat taken, because did we even really go there or do that if we don't have proof? Whether it is getting one of our lovely mothers to take the picture, a stranger, or the selfie stick. We act like we are part of a photoshoot for Vogue and don't stop unless each of us have at least one decent picture to upload to Instagram. Even the embarrassing pictures of the day after a rough night or just an embarrassing moment never goes left un-photographed.
The squad knows about every relationship that goes on, whether a new boy is in the picture or that new chick that loves the squad. We know anything and everything about each others lives and there is no shame in that. We might pick on one member of the squad or embarrass that one member for the comment or stuttering made, "pppenny." Or by just telling you to kiss him in front of each other. We've all been embarrassed by one another not once, but several times.
The squad is like family and I can't thank God enough for the squad and the friendship that they bring. Each member of the squad brings something unique and special that makes us the squad. We are all here to support and love one another, whether that is picking us up when we are down, because we fell up or down the stairs or because we just need encouragement. We want to help each other grow in many ways that no one else can truly understand and want what is best, always.
So, to my squad, thank you for all the memories and times that we have shared and will continue to share. You guys are my family and we will never be apart, so that means we are all moving in together with our husbands one day and they will just have to suck it up. Thank you for always being here and being willing to do whatever it takes to make sure I am okay, happy, and healthy. We may be going our separate ways in the next couple of years, but we will all be in each others weddings, be there when babies are born, or at a funeral of a loved one. Keep doing big things and keep rockin' it. Forever love the squad.
