When I first came to Marquette University to start my freshman year of college I was terrified. I was scared to be away from home, nervous about college courses, and anxious to see if I would get along with my roommates.

That summer, I had been randomly assigned to a triple with two other girls I had never met before. Soon after, through a lot of Facebook stalking, I found their profiles and sent out to message them. That is when I found out that one was from the Netherlands and the other Australia. If that wasn't a culture experience waiting to happen, I don't know what was. It started out as awkward conversation about the dorm room, where I asked what color their sheets were and if they had a preference on rug color.

That lead them to believe I was insane because who cares about those things? They soon found out that most people in America going to college do in fact like to plan their dorm room. Since they were coming from outside of the U.S. I was tasked with bringing up most of the items for our dorm room, which they were both extremely grateful for. The year went on with so many amazing experiences and they truly impacted my freshman year the most. Here is an open letter to them on how grateful I am to consider them my best friends from around the world

Dear Freshman Year Roomies,

I never thought the random roommates I was assigned would turn out to be such a big part of my life. Everyday, our tiny dorm felt more like home and we grew together as a family. You both have changed my life so much more than you will ever know. Looking back, I can't imagine my first year in college without you both. We made it through the ups and downs of freshman year, and will soon be together again to take sophomore year in stride!

We've been through a lot together, like soapy washing machines, microwave malfunctions, face masks, makeup tips, Netflix binges, sushi nights, vending machine Skittles, frequent Postmates delivery, studying for finals, 2nd dinners, chicken nugget and mac & cheese nights, hot cookies, tears and arguments, insane laughter and crazy dance parties, and so much more. Every memory we made was special, and every moment we spent together was important.

When I was a senior in high school, I could never have predicted meeting you both and becoming best friends with people who live across the globe. You two met and surpassed every expectation that I had for my first year at college and making friendships that will last a lifetime. Everyday I am thankful to have gotten the opportunity to call you both my best friends, even if we can't keep a snap streak to save our lives.

I hope our next year together will be just as memorable as the last and we have just as much laughter and fun. Cheers to making more amazing memories and doing things our parents told us not to!

Love you both and see you in 9 days!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
