Dear Professor,
I need to start this letter by saying I hold the utmost respect for you and your craft. You put up with college students in pajamas that probably could give less of a crap about what you are teaching. Every class you come prepared. You are trying to give us information about something you are very interested in. I appreciate all the hard work and schooling you have went through. I appreciate the effort and time you have put into this class in particular, and all the other things you do for our fine institution.
But really. This is a 9 a.m. class that probably has nothing to do with my major. I sit here in sweatpants with a massive hangover and my makeup on from last night. This class is just one on top of many others. My work load is intense. I work outside of school as well. I try to maintain friendships and maybe a relationship. And without knowing any of those things, you nod at the mess I am as you take attendance. You pile on paper after paper. Wait, now you're going to start doing pop quizzes because you do not believe we are reading?
College is a place where I am supposed to find myself. I am supposed to find a passion, and that's kind of hard when I'm writing your papers instead of finding activities I enjoy. I know a good grade in this class with help my GPA. It will also look good on a transcript. But the real world wants me to be well rounded. And that's quite hard when all I have time to do is eat protein bars and try to write your assignments the hour before class.
Maybe it's just me. But I believe the frustration the faculty feels is because you're honestly expecting too much of us. There is only so much a student can take before we say "forget it" and watch Netflix instead.
So please don't judge me so hard when I smell like stale beer, and my makeup is running down my face. Please give us a break when our reading isn't done. You've been in our shoes, you should know that it's harder than ever to balance everything.
Sincerely,
Girl that sits in the back with the large coffee
