To my new friends,

Sometimes in life, people walk in and out like it's no big deal and nothing special to them. Things are always changing, people always change, and losing a friend who knows your life inside and out is probably one of the worst feelings or experiences to go through. Life works in it's ways and you just might cross paths with someone over a common interest, or maybe because you want to go out of your way to meet new people.

You start getting to know each other, figuring out more things you have in common, making new memories, and you wonder where this person has been your whole life! They become the person who knows you inside and out and still loves you for you. This person, or new group of friends, make you rethink the way you let people treat you and they give you a whole new look on life in a different perspective.

You become a new person and begin to get caught up in wanting to spend time with them to take your mind off of the old memories, and replace them with brand new memories and adventures ahead. You begin to do things that you never thought you would have the chance to do, you just adventure out and explore because you can, and stay up all night because why not? We discover new things together, and new things about each other every day.

Spending time with these people just make you so much happier and your whole mood can change in a second just by getting a text from them. You realize that they are the people in this world that you can laugh with, cry with, go out in public looking like a guy with, and they still choose to call you their best friend. That is what I call goals.

I can't thank these people enough for walking into my life at a more perfect time, and letting me see who true friends are. Every day life throws you curve balls, but to have people by your side who are there to catch you when you're falling is truly a blessing. You all have brought such amazing things to my life and I wouldn't want it to be any other way.

When a light is put on you in your life you realize what you had before was such a toxic exposure and these new friends have brought such amazing things; they could truly be your friends forever. Thank you for showing me what it is like to have amazing friends that would do anything and go beyond measure for you. I can't even begin to picture or imagine my life without you all and I will always be so grateful for everything that we all have. Life works in mysterious ways and sometimes it will take a loss to gain something truly amazing.

Love always,

Jess

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
