Dear Mom,
There's so much I have to say already, but I'm going to start with thank you. Thank you for everything you do, have done, and will do before I start my freshman year of college and in the future. Thank you for being the one person I can constantly count on. Whether you're working or doing something else, you continue to put me first.
Remember this past Mother's Day, when we sat in the AT&T store for around five hours and how much you hated it? Well you sat in there, on your day, I might add, and bought me a new phone because mine was destroyed. I complained for months, and as much as I know you didn't want to, you sat in that store and bought me that new phone. Thank you for always putting me first.
Even though it felt like we fought everyday of my senior year of high school, and I'm sure there will be many days to come in the next few years that we will fight, you never stopped loving me (even when I totally didn't deserve it). In some very odd way, those fights brought us closer.
Also, thank you for truly being the cool mom. Seriously. Thank you for always bringing lunch to school, allowing my friends come over whenever, letting those friends vent to you, and never compromising their trust. Thank you for always going to see movies with me, and understanding the importance of going out to lunch. Thank you for those times I came home hungover, and you just let me sleep. And thank you for never telling dad about all those times I had boys come over (sorry, Dad). I know you think I'm kidding, but a good 80 percent of the time my friends come over just to see you.
I promise to always love you like you love me. No matter what happens. I promise to always stand by you and the choices you make. Nothing could make me turn against you, and I will never question the choices you make because I know they will benefit both you and those around you.
I will always be there for you, Mom. Just because you're a mom doesn't mean we don't share the same struggles. I promise to always answer your calls whenever you need me. That day might not come today, tomorrow, or even in the next few months. But the second you need me, I promise to be there.
And Mom, I promise to always remember the lessons you've taught me. They have shaped me into the person I am today, and the person I will grow to be. Thank you for that.
xoxo,
Aidan
