Dear Little Bro and Little Sis,
I can't live with you, and I can't live without you. Mostly because Mom says so. You know all the right buttons to push, you always steal my cherry from my Shirley Temple and we can never agree on what movie to watch. But when it really comes down to it, I must admit, I have grown quite fond of you, and if anyone were to bad-mouth you, I'd be the first to tell them off.
We've been through thick and thin together, remember? From the family trips to Universal Studios, the backyard birthday parties, the elementary school soccer games and all of the hair-pulling in between, we stuck it out together. I was there when you broke your tooth in a grisly scooter accident, and it was me who helped get you home. And when you got your head stuck in the outdoor table, I was there to laugh hysterically as Mom coated your face with butter and olive oil. I was by your sides for all of the milestones, from every holiday and graduation to moving you into college and watching you score the winning goal.
Now there have been times when you've told Mom on me, and don't think I'll ever forget, but I do still know you'll always have my back. You're the first call I make when I'm having a bad day or when I score well on a test. I share all of my triumphs and missteps with you, and don't tell Mom, but I miss you when we're apart.
We have more inside jokes with each other than anyone else, and we share something priceless: a childhood. I'm sure you haven't forgotten that time you tripped me and my pants fell down or that time I cut your bangs to the nubs just for fun. But they're all stories now, one's only we can tell.
At the end of the day, you're my best friends. Your faces plaster my walls and accompany me in my TBT Facebook pictures. And no one is more proud of you when you accomplish something than me, whether it's starring in the school musical to being featured by Huffington Post. I get to say "that's my little sibling, right there," and know that it means something. I'll love you forever, even after you get rich and famous. And looking back, I couldn't be more happy I'm not an only child. I mean, can you imagine how boring it would've been?
Sincerely,
Your older sis
