After being in college a month already (which I still can't believe) and talking to my friends who are still in high school, I've realized that how much I miss my high school. Saints Peter and Paul High School helped create the person I am today and I have nothing but gratitude for that.
My high school taught me that being an individual is nothing to be ashamed of. It made you beautiful and unique. My school was one of the biggest influences in my life to this day. It's a place I can always go back to and I will be welcomed with open arms. It's my safe haven in a way. There wasn't ever a time where I couldn't go to one of my teachers for advice or a time when I was knee deep in stress and they would do everything in their power to help me rework my schedule so I could find my balance. If I was having an off day there wasn't a teacher who failed to ask me if I was alright, it was like they always knew without me having to say a word they were always there. One teacher in particular would know before I even knew I was having a bad day and would bring me a cup of my favorite tea so I could calm myself down before things got too bad.
My teachers taught me things inside and outside the classroom that stick with me to this day. Sure I've finally somewhat understood SOHCAHTOA or how to properly balance a chemical equation but I've also learned how to really listen to people or how not to be afraid to love certain subjects with everything I have. My sophomore World Literature teacher gave me a new love and appreciation for literature that still inspires me today.
My school will always hold a special place in my heart and I can only hope they understand how thankful I am to have had such amazing teachers in my life.
