An Open Letter to the Guy Who Steals My Best Friend's Heart

I just have a few things I need to say.

An Open Letter to the Guy Who Steals My Best Friend's Heart

Here I am writing a letter to the person that means so much to the person that means so much to me. I just wanted to take the time to tell you a few things as you begin a new relationship with my best friend. Hear me out.

To the guy who steals my best friends heart,

First of all, congratulations. You really scored a good one. You are so lucky. She is one amazing girl. She will always be there for you, in the best of times and in the worst of times. She's more caring and compassionate than anyone I've ever met. She's selfless and she will freely give her whole heart to you. Cherish it.

Please remind her everyday how much you like her and how beautiful she is. Tell her she is a goddess. Tell her she is a queen, because she is. Take her out on cute romantic dates, I am more than willing to help you come up with ideas. I am a great source of information when it comes to her. I know her favorite things, her hopes, her dreams, and I just want to help you out.

Also, you may be around no but remember I was around before you and if you two happen to break up that I will be the one around after. I'm the one that hears all about you. I hear the good and the bad. I'm the one she comes to when she has butterflies in her stomach and can't wait to go on a date with you. I'm the one that she comes to late at night crying because you two are fighting. I've heard it all. You may think you care more about her than anyone else in the world does, but that's not true. She is like a piece of me and I care about her and her feelings like they are my own. So please, do not break her heart. She doesn't need that. She doesn't deserve that.

But back to the happy thoughts. I am so excited for the two of you. I am your relationship's biggest fan and biggest supporter. I will do all that I can to ensure you two have a long, healthy, happy relationship. And please I hope you don't mind my awkward third wheeling. I know she wants to spend time with both of us. If you're up for it, I would love to be friends with you too. I want to be able to have a relationship with someone that means so much to my best friend. If she likes you this much, I'm sure I will like you too!

Overall, just have fun and appreciate her. She's a wonderful, lovely person. I know you'll love her as much as I do.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
