Hi there,

To you, I may just be the future evil sister-in-law, but I promise, it's nothing personal. When it comes to a sister's brothers, I'm bound to get over-protective and I may come off as mean, but really, I just love my brothers to the moon and back a billion times over.

Best friends, partners in crime, at times enemies, but most of the time they're truly my people.

Trust me, girlfriend, there is nothing in the world that will wedge the relationship that my brothers and I have. You could move him 100 million miles away and you will still not get rid of me. I will always be in your life. Why? Because you chose to marry an only sister's brothers. That's one pretty special and strong bond. You could be together for 24 years, but remember I will have known him for 18 more years than you. If there is any person who knows him more, it's me.

So, save the, "Oh, I love when ____ does this," or, "___ always does this," or, "Did you know ____ read all the 'Harry Potter' books in a week?"

Yes, I know. I was the one in the desk next to him when he wrote out every spell to 'Harry Potter' and saved it in a notebook! I know he wears the same shirt for three days! I've lived with them for 18 years. I know everything there is to know about these people. And trust me honey, as much as you may think you know, I've been their super secret keeper since age embryo.

Now as protective as I will always be of my brothers, I want you to know that I will always love and respect you. You truly got lucky. My brothers are the best people I've ever met in my life and any girl would be the luckiest girls in the world to have them be apart of their life. Even though they're immature, extremely messy and sometimes just straight dorks, they're going to make your lives truly incredible. I've shed more tears laughing with them than I have shed sad tears on their shoulders after a bad day. They've seen me heartbroken and have seen me not be treated how they want so trust me, I've got them whipped into total husband material. They are such amazing human beings and have the biggest hearts. I'm so thankful to have grown up with these beautiful souls and I'm so happy that you can experience them as well. They helped shape me into the strong person I am today and I can't imagine my life now and ever without them in it. I hope you appreciate them as much as I do because every day I love them more.

So, thank you for loving my brothers. They deserve a lifetime of endless happiness. I've always imagined them being with a girl who makes them happy every single day of their lives. I really hope you can live up to the high expectations I have for my brother's wives but I have no doubts you won't. I'm really not the evil sister-in-law I make myself out to be. Just an only sister who was spoiled by her brothers her whole life and loves them more than anything in the world.

Love them through the hard times and the good times, and I promise to be there for you guys through it all.

Love,

The Not So Evil Sister-In-Law

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
