An Open Letter To The Friend Who Makes Me Stronger
Nicole Giordano

There have been many times when I felt lost. I’ve felt confusion, pain and anxiety. I also realize there aren’t many people in my life who I can turn to in those times. I have people who want to help; people who don’t want to see me hurt but don’t exactly understand nor know how to help.

But then there is you. We’re a part of a generation that focuses way too much on breaking down our imperfections and criticizing our every flaw. But you don’t let me. You remind me that it isn’t about my flaws; it’s about my strengths. You help remind me that I should stand tall and that I should be proud of all that I am and all that I do; not what I am not. So I want to say thank you.

Thank you for always reminding me that I am enough. When we focus on our flaws, we take something away from ourselves. But you remind me that my worth isn’t measured by the likes on my Instagram posts or the amount of dates I get asked out on. My worth is based on who I am and what I stand for, and that is more than good enough.

Thank you for doing little things to help the big things. Whether I am beating myself up over a grade I got or I just got into a huge argument with someone, you’re always there to let me vent. No matter how long it's been since we last talked, you are always there to help. You’ll let me complain or cry and then you’ll make me laugh. You remind me that I am loved, always.

Thank you for spreading your positivity to me, even when you’re down. You could be having the worst day ever, but you never fail to fix my problems even if it means fixing them before fixing your own. You believe so strongly in being positive; you remind me and everyone around you that it's important to build yourself up, not break yourself down.

Just being around you can help change my entire mood. You help me be stronger, so thank you. Thank you for everything. And whenever you aren’t feeling good enough, please know that I am always here. Please always turn to me. Because I’ll return the favor and remind you that you are great.

Love, Me

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
