Dear friends I made as a theatre major,
When I was younger I always wanted a place where I could belong, thank you for giving that to me. You see, you have become my unconventional family and I have come to bond with and love every single one of you. We support each other on and off the stage, we laugh and laugh at all of the silly inside jokes that we are constantly making, we never get cliquey. When one of us gets hurt, we all get hurt and when one of us is in a bad mood, you know all of our empathetic asses are in a bad mood. That part sucks a little, but in a good way.
I haven't been able to express in person the sentiment I hold for you all, it would take so long to address each and every one of you and that's just silly. Even the behind the scenes techies are dramatic (whether or not they'd admit it) and we'd all just end up crying in some sort of weird dog pile hug thing. I digress, you get the picture.
I was really, terribly low before finding my place in this weird little shoe box home, in this weird little shoe box family. I have made my life long friends, I know that. I will come see performances in weird little hole in the wall stages in Chicago. I will answer the phone and listen to stories and talk shit and I will always recognize that these years are the best of my life. Studying theatre in college in an unrecognizable city; I wouldn't change it for the world, I wouldn't change any of you for the world.
So please keep being yourselves. Keep growing so we can all grow together. We'll keep laughing together and crying together and watching each other succeed. We'll keep being a home away from home, a family, an usfor once instead of them.
I love you guys.
Sincerely,
The friend you made as a theatre major
