You wake up and stare at yourself in the mirror. Everything you could have is right in front of you. Your life honestly isn't that bad, but you know something is missing. Something is clearly wrong with you.

You have a good education, you have a steady job, you're healthy, have a family that cares about you and a best friend that worries about your well-being. What more could a person really ask for?

That's just it. You don't know why you feel so empty. Everything you could possibly want is yours for the taking. You go throughout your routine for the day and trust me when I say some days are better than others, but you get by. You genuinely feel honestly happy with yourself some days. Everything that you want to accomplish, you do. Everything you want to happen does. Except then it hits you. You want to cry or you have absolutely no emotion at all.

You finally find a good guy who loves you, but because you have been broken so many times in the past, you can't fully bring yourself to just be happy. You feel that if you let yourself get too happy, that it will all be taken away from you. Why do you think this? Because undoubtedly in the past this has always happened.

The person who promises to be there forever leaves. The opportunity you've been waiting weeks and weeks for doesn't come through. You find out someone you love dearly is sick.

You can't handle it anymore and you just want to break down. Nothing ever leads to happiness. Nothing is forever.

But that's when you have to take a step back and remember who you are. You have to take time for yourself and find out what kind of person you want to be.

Go out and travel. I can't tell you how many stories I have heard of people changing after going to a different country. Immerse yourself in a different culture. Try new things and feel the adrenaline that comes from doing something new.

Realize what you want in life and then go out and get it. Take daily steps to reach your goals and achieve them. Don't stay in the same place that causes you to hate life every day and expect your life to get better.

Make the changes now and take the actions that are necessary. Quit your job and find one that doesn't feel like work. Meet new people that have the same interests you do, but that also teach you new ways to look at the world. Pick up a new hobby and stick to it, unless you find it's not for you, then change it.

The only way to be happy in this world is to be happy with yourself. So if you're not feeling content with the life you're living, go out and change it to one you will be proud of.

It's easier said than done, but you only have one life and if you do it right -- one life is all that you need.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
