Throughout my life, I've had friends come and go, as everyone does. As life changes, so do the people you are surrounded by. After leaving high school, it was scary to even think that I wouldn't be around the people I'd known my whole life. The time had quickly come to step out of my comfort zone, and I finally felt ready to do so.
At first, I was hesitant to put myself out there and open up to others. Over time, though, I began to meet more and more people. I then met those with whom I instantly clicked. They were the people I knew would not only be great friends, but those that could last a lifetime. It was so great for all of my worries about finding those great friends to just slip away.
To those people, this one is for you.
First, I would like to start out by saying, you have no idea how thankful I am to have been blessed with your presence in my life. Not in a million years would I have thought that I would find friends like you. I truly could not have asked for better people to have met during this exciting time in my life. There is never a time that I could be with any of you and not have the best laughs. You all can make a simple walk through campus to classes the best time of the day.
I feel as though, even though I have not known you for all that long, it's as if I have known you my whole life. I can be my complete self around you, with no pressure to be anyone else. There is no better feeling than that.
I have also been lucky enough to not only find people that I can have endless fun with, but who are also there in times of need for support and comfort. Through any hard times we may go through, there is never a question that we will have the backs of one another. It's so comforting knowing that you will always have a cheering section before going into that impossibly hard test, and also a shoulder to lean on after coming out thinking you failed.
As a commuter student, my friends have also given me a home away from home. On the weekends and even occasional days during the week, you take me in like I'm one of your roommates. I couldn't feel any more at home. You really help me to get that full college experience, which I was always worried about while living at home.
I am so excited for school to start up again just to be back with all of those awesome people I love. I would take all my classes back just to get time with my friends every day.
So, friends, here's to the rest of our years altogether.
There are no words to thank you for being some of the best friends I've ever had.
