It is easy to forget how much of an impact certain people will have in your life. We often tend to forget the “little things” people do for us. Growing up I learned that it is extremely important to never take those “little things” for granted. This letter is for the most important girls in my life and this is for all those people who doubted how strong our friendship could be.
To my very best friends,
Thank you for the laughs, the tears and the memories we have made during childhood. In society today your friends and social interactions are the most crucial part of early adolescence and emerging adulthood. You create your self-identity based off of whom you tend to hang around with and I am beyond thankful it was you. We grew up down the street from each other; it was such a safe feeling knowing you were all a block away. It is important to have a structured circle of friends and mine was different, exciting, interesting to say the least and weirder than anything else you can imagine. We were never perfect and we embraced the fact that nobody is perfect and you don’t need to be to live the happiest life you can.
I thank you guys for your constant honesty even if it was more than I could take. I thank you for pushing me to be my best when there were days that I was at my worst. I thank you for holding the key to a successful and wonderful childhood and the memories I can now take with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for teaching me boys aren’t everything and you can be happy just loving yourself. Thank you for always being my valentine so I was never upset about not having one. Thank you for always encouraging me to take the risks and step outside of my comfort zone because I believe the world needs more of that. Thank you for every late night that turned into early mornings, thanks for talking me through every sticky situation we found ourselves in, it sure was nice to never have to go through the hard times alone.
I want to thank you for always making a huge deal out of the littlest things. We never had to spend a birthday alone, every single one was better than the last. Getting our licenses, our first boyfriends, break ups, even buying our first bra. We took each day as a new one and lived every moment like it was the last. It is amazing how we can all look back at these times and relate them to the present and how absolutely nothing has changed. Even though we all have gone separate ways and have different futures ahead of us, it really makes you appreciate the times we have together now more than ever. I am grateful we could experience these things with each other and now with even more exciting things to come.
I lastly want to thank you for being my backbone is a sometimes harsh and cruel world and showing me that certain friendships can last a lifetime and I have never questioned that this one won’t. Even through the darkest days you continue to be such a bright life shining in my life. Thank you so much for having such a strong impact on my childhood and the little things you have implanted in my heart forever. I truly thank you.
