Going away for college means not seeing your best friends from home besides during breaks. Unfortunately, this can mean a lot of friendships fading away due to long distances and lack of seeing each other. Over the past year and a half, I realized that it’s when you come home from a stressful semester at whatever school you go to when you see who sticks around and who’s here to stay.
To my best friends from high school,
Thanks for sticking around. I know, sometimes, it can be hard to stay in touch considering we are all at different schools now with different lives and different journeys, but thanks for being ready to get back to our usual routine as soon as we return.
I love that when we get back together, it’s like we never left. There’s no awkward conversation -- none of us thinking, so now what? It’s a nonstop event of laughing, reminiscing, talking about everything and nothing at the same time, and making new memories.
I don’t know if it’s just because we haven’t seen each other in a long time, or if we’re just great people, but there is never a dull moment when we reunite. You make all of my breaks fun, whether we’re out doing something adventurous or sitting on your couch telling each other stories from the past few months.
I’m so glad we’ve been putting up with each other for so long, because I really don’t know what I would do without you. Thanks for being you. See you again next break!
