So we’re halfway done with our second semester of freshman year and I’m still not sure how I’ve made it this long without you by my side. Sure, I've made new friends whom I love deeply, you've been there for me at my highest highs and my lowest lows. You’re still the one whom I call when I’m having a hard time with a boy, class, or friend and even over the phone. You know just what advice to give me so that I pull myself together, because even though we’ve both changed and have new friends, you’re still the person who knows me best.
I’m not exactly sure when our friendship truly started, whether it was at the lunch table where we bonded over our mutual love for "Twilight" (ugh middle school) or at church during Sunday School, my life has been forever changed by your friendship. Until this year, you were by my side for every major life event that I have ever had and struggling through college without you has been impeccably hard. Especially because college is such a major event for young adults and this is the first thing that we haven't been together for. Most times it is hard to find time for each other because we have separate schedules in separate places. But that is one of the best parts about our friendship, even when we do not talk for days it's like we just talked yesterday.
So, to my best friend at another school, please know that I'll always be here for you. Whether you call me on a Wednesday at 3 a.m. because you're struggling to write a paper and need a break or it's at 5 p.m. and you just had a run-in with a boy who you used to date and he was being a jerk, I'll pick up or text you back because your friendship means the world to me.
I'll always make time for you. This summer is going to be the busiest summer we've ever had. The days of lounging around because the school's out are over. We've reached the point in our lives where we have to start worrying about building our resumes and in general, what we are going to do with the rest of our lives. We're turning into adults and we will have responsibilities that we never had before. However, we cannot let our friendship get lost in the hurricane that is adulthood. Like I said before, we've been there for every major life event, and I refuse to stop now.
Know that I'll always love you. Even when we don't talk or take our frustrations out on each other, I'll never stop loving you. You're still the first person I think about when making plans, the person I'll call when I'm struggling, the person I'll call to talk about nothing with and the person who I'll go with on ridiculous adventures to a diner in New York. You are, and always will be, my best friend, my bridesmaid, and my sister.
