Where has the summer gone? I remember packing up my dorm with a mixture of sadness and excitement. I was sad to see another year go by faster than I could blink and excited to see my best friends from home. I had high hopes for this summer and you didn't let me down. It's rather unfortunate we do not attend the same school and we don't live in the same town nine months out of the year. But, It's been amazing spending day in and day out with you.
I know communication is tough with of us working, attending classes, or just the trials of every day life, but know I still need you. I hope you know distance doesn't stop me from wanting to talk to you all every day. I still need to complain about stupid things that don't really matter, but I make a huge deal. It doesn't stop me from wishing we could have our ice cream dates, random trips to Walmart, go Pokemon hunting, dinner dates, go to concerts, bar hop, or have our nights in where we just watch Netflix. I promise to make an effort to keep our communication strong. Don't be afraid to call me, text me or FaceTime me. I couldn't imagine losing you as a best friend and I understand that communication is a two way street.
I want you to know that I'll always be here for you whenever you need. If you even need me for a night whether it's a two hour drive to your apartment or a thirty minute drive, I'll be there. Just because I am back at school you don't stop being my priority. Don't be afraid to call me and say, "I need you." I don't care if it's just a bad night at work or you had a major fight with some boy, call! I'll answer.
Don't forget about me. I know it's hard with me being one place and you being at another, but don't forget about me, and don't replace me either.
Come visit. I know we're older and working towards goals, but lets not be so caught up in paying our bills we forget to live and go have more adventures. Life is short and we can't spend our time stressing out about silly things. We're young so let's still enjoy it. Just because summer is over doesn't mean we have to stop being care free. If we plan accordingly we can get something planned and it will be crazy and one heck of a time.
Thank you for being my best friends. Thank you for putting up with me. I honestly couldn't imagine my life without you any of you in it. Thank you for never allowing distance to stop us from being close. Thank you for always welcoming me back when I come back home. Thank you for the phone calls, texts and the FaceTime calls I hope you know how much I value in my life, because without you in my life I probably wouldn't be who I am today. Thank you for a summer full of crazy adventures, laughs, wild and calm nights. Thank you for always putting a fire in my soul. Thank you for giving summer 2016 so many great memories.
I will miss you so much. It's incredibly hard to leave knowing you're not right beside me when I need something. It kinda sucks, but I know we'll always be close. I can't wait to plan our trips to visit one another.
Here's to saying goodbye to summer and hello to another school year. But when it comes to each other, it's not goodbye—just see you later.
