Dear Roomie,
To be honest, I was super nervous to room with you after my experience with my previous roommate. I thought you would be a terrible person who would annoy me and make me want to drop out of college. Luckily, I was proven to be wrong within the first week of living together. This first semester has had its ups and downs; you’ve seen me struggle and you’ve seen me thrive, but I know there’s no one else I would rather live with.
Our personalities matched, we clicked, and now we do pretty much everything together. You are just as coffee and Christmas obsessed as I am and I don’t know what else I could ask for in a roommate. You have quickly become my best friend at college and I am so thankful for that. You always tell me if my outfit matches, you make me laugh until my stomach hurts, and you hate on the same people I hate. You always tell me when I am being unreasonable and you put up with my rants about professors, just like I do for you. Thank you for always looking out for me, telling me when I’m making a bad decision and making me so happy.
Even though sometimes I really hate you, like when you make me spend a lot of money on clothes that I don’t need, you are still the best part of my college life and there’s no one else I’d rather live with next year. I don’t know how I got so lucky but I’m hella glad you messaged me last spring when I was looking for a roommate. You’ve been on my side through everything this semester and it is so great to know that I have someone I can always count on.
Thank you for not being mad when I take really long naps, and for not thinking I’m weird for eating so much pasta and cheese late at night. Thank you for always knowing how to cheer me up and tagging me in funny memes on Facebook that always make my day. You make it so easy for me to be myself around you and I appreciate that. Thank you for staying up late with me and talking about whatever goes through our minds, and for having your nightly snack on your cube so we can talk. I love those conversations. I am so glad we spend so much time together, whether that’s just sitting in our room or taking trips to Target, Walmart, or Kwik Trip.
You are the best friend any person could possibly have and I am so glad I met you. I will miss you so much more than I’d like to admit when I leave for England but I can’t wait to tell you all about my adventures when I get back. I also can’t wait to move into our apartment together and finish college. You will forever be my favorite compañera de cuarto (that’s “roommate” in your first language, spanish).
Love,
Your favorite roomie
