First, a big thank you!
For all that you do that gets overlooked, thank you. The Athletic Training major is no joke. It is difficult, packed material that takes hard work and patience. I can't count on all my fingers and toes how many times I have needed a reassuring text message or email and have received just that. I know that we (students) can be overwhelmingly stressed out on multiple occasions and may end up taking it out on you. Stressing you out even more is not our intention. We know that you are the one person we can come to to vent about the last chemistry test we just took that ruined all of our GPAs. We are selfish and see only the professional side of you when we are stressed. But, when it comes down to it, you prepare us, you instill in us knowledge and you comfort us when we need it most.
The best part about this is that you may not necessarily want to, or have the time to deal with our problems; because like any teacher, wife and mom you have a life, too. But, you never turn us away.
My best example for your selflessness is during finals. When we have to sign up for three different time blocks starting at 6 a.m., you're there, too. You sit as we take our tests, and immediately after, you're grading the tests so we can know if we passed or not. While we sit, gnawing our fingernails off, we can be reassured knowing that you are combing through the tests making sure no question has a typo, or checking to see if our answer can be acceptable for one more extra point. Unlike other professors, we don't have to sit and wait for our grade to be updated to our grade portal. Instead we wait for a text message. If we passed, you are excited and your text message proves that with all your emojis and exclamation points. If we didn't pass, we were probably right on the cusp. And, we'll still receive a text with our grade and what we can study specifically, in hopes to help us pass the next time.
You are so under appreciated, and I am sorry. My hope for the future is to never let you go unnoticed. You are a superhero, and from all the other Athletic Training students and me, we thank you. Thank you for making this extremely hard major bearable, understandable and for constantly reminding us how proud you are of us.
Thank you.
