Open Letter To All Single Moms On Mother's Day

As Mother’s day comes up, I decided to write a letter to all of the mothers out there. I am not outcasting the fathers by trying to bash them, this is a letter to Mom’s and all fathers can have their own article come father's day. As Mother’s Day comes around I would like to open this letter by starting off by saying Happy Mother’s Day! The word mother can be defined as The woman who loves you unconditionally from birth, the one who puts her kids before herself and the one who you can always count on above everyone else. Here is why I believe Mother’s Day is not just for one day, but every day.

I will start with a personal story, I was raised by my mom and grandmother and father. After he moved to Florida for better work, I then was left with mom and grandmother to take care of me full time. Two wonderful women taught me right from wrong. It might not seem much to someone else, but to me it is. Both of them took time in making sure I got to school and back okay, nice clothes to wear, food on the table. I could not thank them enough!

Here is why I believe Mother’s Day is every day rather than just one day. Mother’s take time in nurturing their child, making sure they go first before them. Mother’s use their last penny for their kids just to make sure they are happy. If anything like my mom, she goes to work every day to provide for me, as I am working as well in not only my job but school, to help pay for my own things, she is still working to pay for my college tuition, bills for the house, car insurance, and payment. That is a hard working mother to me. If you read my first paragraph and you were raised by a single mother and you read this, you should keep reading because there are more reasons why Mother’s Day is every day and not just for one day.

Mother’s day is every day because mom does everything and anything. They listen to you, take good care of you. If anything like my mom, she will be there when you need her. Moms are like superheroes, they can do multiple things at once and still have time to do more.

As a single mother, you have to take the role of being the mother and father in the household. Not only making sure that they have a great education, clothes, etc but to also make sure the child is not getting in trouble. All the stuff you do for a child until they grow up to start their own family is hard work. So big shout out to everyone who is out there as a single mother. Because of we, (or at least I do) thank you for everything you do, Happy Mother’s Day! I am not a woman or a mom, but if you read this you can look back at everything your mom does for you and remember to give something special for her.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
