It is the middle of February, temperatures are in the negatives and you are laying in bed trying to figure out what to do with yourself. This is, naturally, the perfect time to binge-shop online.
You pull up Tobi and decide it would be the perfect time to shop ahead for spring formal. The only issue is the dresses are in this awkward stage where they don't really belong with the winter collection, but they also don't belong with spring. Plus, you really want to lose 10 pounds before spring formal, anyway, so what size would you even buy?
Next, you stop at Urban. All the clothes are super cute and they even have shorts. You add way more things to your cart than you can afford, and then skim through to see what you absolutely cannot live without. As you are skimming through the bag, you realize everything is full price and you cannot wear any of the stuff in the arctic tundra that you are currently living in, so you save your cart for later and move on to the next.
Forever 21 is the final stop on your online shopping tour. Their winter collection has just about weeded itself out, and they are almost in full spring mode. You figure you could probably spend about $50 without your mom getting too pissed, and you really need the upper hand on spring fashion, anyway. You fill your cart with a couple of plain colored crop tops because they are $4.99 and who doesn't need plain-colored crop tops? There is also this really cute pair of high-waisted shorts and a short-sleeved floral romper, so you have to get those, too. After you check out and get super excited that new clothes are on the way, it hits you. It is still in the negatives outside.
All those pretty new clothes you just spent hours picking out will have to sit in the back of your closet for months before you can actually wear them. You contemplate ordering a couple of new sweaters to spice up your existing wardrobe, but then laugh because you just wear yogas and a sweatshirt to class every day.
The shopping trip you just had was satisfying for about three minutes, and now you are back to the real world: laying in bed, crying because it is freezing and wishing you were somewhere tropical.
