Essena O'Neill: Fake, Fraud Or Fabulous?

Essena O'neill did it. She broke the news to thousands of people around the world. "Social media is not real." Well, we all already knew this, but at least someone finally said it. Most of us know that many Instagram accounts are too good to be true. The pictures of a normal day in the life have transformed into staged and sponsored pictures by Instagram models that are funded because of their perfect hair and beautiful bodies.

"But Essena O'Niell is different" they say. Is she really different? How do we know this whole thing isn't a hoax?

Essena O'Neill, an Australian Instagram model who had close to half a million followers on Instagram and thousands of other followers on Youtube and Tumblr, recently decided to expose the truth behind these "perfect" pictures. Essena used her previously posted Instagram pictures and edited their captions, describing the efforts and intentions behind each post. She later "deleted" all forms of her social media.

Many people are questioning Essena's intentions of "quitting" social media. Her former friends Nina and Randa, for example, just posted a video refuting the claims and generalizations she had about the industry. Essena O'Niell also stated in her video that no one should value likes and shares but towards the end of her video asks for shares, likes, and support financially, asking her new "followers" to help her because she can't afford rent.

So what is the truth of Essena's reason to quit? She claims she's "taking herself off the grid" but continues to own social media accounts.

How many of us knew who Essena was before she decided to quit? I surely have never heard of her, but now I see articles and posts about her every day.

Essena is deceitful. She still owns social media and still has "followers" that are funding her just as they did through Instagram. Is it all a publicity stunt? In the end it seems as if her motives are still the same. None of her support can come without followers of her message and subscribes from her website. Although her message is strong she still continues to acclaim fame through social media.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
